It looks like Captain James T. Kirk may be going country.

Heartland Records Nashville announced that William Shatner has signed with the label in a press release on Thursday (Feb. 15), saying he is “currently working on a very special project that will be released later this year.”

It’s not immediately clear that it’s a country project, but the other artists listed on Heartland’s roster are country, including Cash Creek, Alabama‘s Jeff Cook, Magnolia Belle and Rebecca Fredrick.

According to Heartland’s news release, “This new project promises to be one of the most entertaining musical ventures to date for the Emmy Award-winning actor.” No title or further details about the project have yet been released.

Shatner is no stranger to country music. He’s good friends with Brad Paisley, and he’s even appeared on the CMA Awards with him, as well as making cameos in Paisley’s videos for “Online” and “Celebrity.” Paisey returned the favorwhen he appeared on a cover of “Space Cowboy” on Shatner’s Seeking Major Tom album.

A compilation album titled Spaced Out: The Best of Leonard Nimoy and William Shatner features Nimoy’s renditions of several country classics, including “Ruby Don’t Take Your Love to Town,” “Gentle on My Mind” and “I Walk the Line.”
