GERMANTOWN, TN (WMC) – The Mid-South is one step close to getting a new grocer.

A Trader Joe’s sign went up Monday at its soon-to-open Germantown location. Another sign that read “now accepting applications” was there Wednesday.

“We’ve been waiting a long time to have this sign up here in Germantown. A long time. And I know we are as excited as the community,” Noah Stevens, Trader Joe’s captain, said.

While the sign is finally up, the store, located at 2130 Exeter, still does not have a opening date.

Jessica Holley asked for an exact date as to when the store will open, but she was told that they want to make sure everything is perfect inside the store before officially releasing a date.

There’s still work to be done at the store such as cleaning, electrical work, stocking the empty shelves, and most importantly, hiring crew members.

A Trader Joe’s representative said that they are looking to hire roughly 100 people who love food and love being around people.

Eager applicants were at the store on Wednesday hoping to fill one of the estimated 100 jobs the store brings to the Germantown.

It’s a job opportunity with starting pay between $11-13 an hour, a flexible schedule, and great benefits, according to Stevens –the store’s captain.

Applications are available online or at the store on Exeter Road in Germantown, and the store could add even more staff after the opening.
