Speaking Up at School Board Meeting Leads to Expulsion and Arrest of Teacher

Louisiana’s Vermilion Parish school board met on Monday night. When they got to the public comments portion of the meeting, Rene Rost Middle Schools English language arts teacher Deyshia Hargrave had a question for the board. Hargrave wanted to know why the superintendent was getting a $38,000-per-year raise when teachers had gone for years without an increase. Board president Anthony Fontana responded to Hargrave’s inquiry by ruling her out of order and having a police officer handcuff her and forcibly remove her from the meeting. (See here)
