Congratulations to the New Orleans Jazz and Heritage Festival producers for landing the Rolling Stones, an act big enough to befit the 50th anniversary of our favorite annual music fest. For those of us in the graying-but-still-groovy generation, the Stones were the dream for 2019. Thanks to Quint Davis and company for giving us that satisfaction.
This year’s fest takes place April 25-28 and May 2-5 at the Fair Grounds in Gentilly.
On Thursday, May 2, the Rolling Stones will perform. “May 2 will be a limited capacity Jazz Fest day,” Jazz Fest says on its website. And, in an unexpected announcement, Katy Perry will perform on the first Saturday, April 27. Tickets to the Rolling Stones will be limited to “what’s comfortable,” producer Davis said.
Tickets go on sale Friday, Jan 18. But on Thursday, Jan. 17, from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. at the Mercedes-Benz Superdome,
