Police: Man left JC Walmart with microwave under coat

JOHNSON CITY (WBNG) — A Binghamton man has been charged with felony burglary after police say he stole a kitchen appliance from a local retailer.

According to the Johnson City Police Department, officers were called to Walmart in the village around 1:30 p.m. Friday for reports that a man already banned from the store was stealing again.

Police say security officers spotted the man, later identified as 27-year-old Zachary Rindenow, with a microwave under his coat and attempting to leave the store.

Authorities say he ran behind Walmart and into another business before he was arrested by police.

He was charged with burglary in the third degree, a class D felony.

According to police, Rindenow was banned the day before after stealing items from the store and providing a false name. For those crimes, police say he was charged with petit larceny and false personation, both misdemeanors.
