It’s jail, not tacos, for man passed out in fast-food drive-through line

Instead of getting the first taco of 2019, a 23-year-old Sonoma man was booked into the Sonoma County jail Tuesday.

Abel Macedonia-Gutierrez was discovered by police to be passed out while parked in the drive-through lane of a Taco Bell restaurant on Washington Street in Petaluma early on New Year’s morning, police said.

Officers said he showed signs of being intoxicated, was uncooperative, refused to get out of the car and had to be removed from the vehicle by force.

After obtaining a search warrant, officers administered a blood alcohol test. Macedonia-Gutierrez was booked into jail on suspicion of drunk driving.
