Many of Memphis Mayor Jim Strickland’s priorities for a second term in office are building on efforts his administration pushed in the past three and a half years — like beefing up the Memphis Police Department’s staffing and driving down violent crime, and aiming to boost minority- and women-owned businesses.
Strickland sat down with The Commercial Appeal on Monday, a day ahead of his official announcement that he’s seeking another term, and he laid out some of his major priorities for a second four-year term in office.
“It’s a lot of continues,” Strickland said. “I think we’re on the right track, we just need to keep our foot on the accelerator.”
