Fake MTA signs in New York subways declare all trains delayed

Feb. 8 (UPI) — The Metropolitan Transportation Authority in New York confirmed official-looking signs declaring all trains to be delayed are “unauthorized” fakes.

The signs, which werespotted at multiple stations in early February, feature an image of a hitchhiking construction worker with the text: “Your Train Is Delayed. January 1 – December 31. Days, Nights, Weekends.”

The MTA told WPIX-TV the sign is an “unauthorized” fake apparently poking fun at the city’s famously unreliable subway schedule. The city has increased maintenance and repair of tracks and signals as part of an $836 million emergency action plan to address the subway issues.

A person purported to be the graphic designer behind the fake sign said the work should speak for itself.
