David Spade is the latest to try Comedy Central’s post-‘Daily Show’ slot

PASADENA, Calif. – David Spade will get a nightly show on Comedy Central later this year.

The actor and comedian is the latest to try the Monday to Thursday (11:30 EST/PST) slot after “The Daily Show With Trevor Noah,” which under Noah or previous host Jon Stewart had great success with “The Colbert Report” but failure with newer shows featuring other former “Daily” correspondents Larry Wilmore and Jordan Klepper.

The new show, expected to steer clear of politics, is another try for the network, too: Spade also led “The Showbiz Show,” which aired 39 episodes in 2005.
