Baseball not immune to Mother Nature’s ferocity

USA Today

Harsh weather has played havoc on residents and baseball teams in parts of the Midwest and eastern parts of the U.S., causing an alarming number of games to be postponed. The crazy winter-like weather even postponed a game in Toronto that was to be played in a stadium with a roof.  The team bus for the Royals, the Blue Jays’ opponent, was damaged by flying chunks of ice and a player had to take the wheelwhen the driver was hit by glass shards. The teams will now play a traditional doubleheader Tuesday. With 24 postponed games already over the 19-day-old season, is it time for the league to consider shortening the season? USA TODAY Sports’ Nancy Armour certainly thinks so.
