(NEWSER) – The Guardian has obtained an advance copy of Michael Wolff’s highly anticipated book about the Trump White House, and it will not be pleasant reading for Donald Trump Jr. in particular. In Fire and Fury: Inside the Trump White House, former top strategist Steve Bannon tells Wolff that “they’re going to crack Don Junior like an egg on national TV.” Bannon specifically faults Trump Jr. for meeting with a group of Russians amid the 2016 election, along with Jared Kushner and Paul Manafort. Two big quotes from Bannon on the topic:

  • “The three senior guys in the campaign thought it was a good idea to meet with a foreign government inside Trump Tower in the conference room on the 25th floor—with no lawyers. They didn’t have any lawyers.”
  • “Even if you thought that this was not treasonous, or unpatriotic, or bad s—, and I happen to think it’s all of that, you should have called the FBI immediately.”

Bannon also predicts that the Robert Mueller investigation will hinge on money laundering, adding that the related path to Trump “goes right through Paul Manafort, Don Jr., and Jared Kushner. … It’s as plain as a hair on your face.” Wolff (a founder of Newser) had inside access to the president and his inner circle, and the account is based on more than 200 interviews. The book is formally released on Jan. 9.
